I was first introduced to 31 Bits a couple years ago when a good friend gave me one of their necklaces for Christmas. Recently, that same friend (also a bridesmaid) referred me to their Wedding Shop. Their necklaces are so cute! I love the beading and the casual feel. These necklaces are perfect for spring and summer, not to mention a summer wedding!
But what’s especially cool about this company is what they stand for. According to their website, “31 Bits is a business using fashion and design to empower women to rise above poverty. We believe that business is one of the most powerful and sustainable approaches to turning scarcity into abundance, and eventually, alleviating poverty completely.” They are currently working with 108 Ugandan women; these women make jewelry from 100% recycled and local materials, then 31 Bits buys the jewelry and sells it internationally, using the profit to reinvest in the women they work with. Read more about it here – overall, this is some pretty neat stuff.
These are some of my favorite pieces from their site. Check it out for yourself – it’s a great cause!
